Day 1 : Arrival - San Jose

Meet and greet at the international airport and transfer to Bougainvillea for your first night in Costa Rica

Day 2 : Poas Volcano – Doka Coffee Tour & La Paz Waterfall Gardens (B-L)

To get to the different attractions included during this excursion we will drive by the city of Alajuela passing by the Agriculture Monument, the Monument to Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park.

As we ascend towards the Poás Volcano we will notice the change in temperature and vegetation; we will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful landscape.

On the way to the volcano we will visit Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast and a coffee tour, in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn about the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce one of the best coffees in Costa Rica. Learn about the careful process involved on the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden Bean.

After the coffee tour we will continue to Poás Volcano where we will not only admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this beautiful national park.

Following the visit to the volcano we will continue to La Paz Waterfall Garden for lunch and tour. On arrival to the La Paz, we will walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit. Day 3 : San Jose – Arenal (B-D)

After breakfast, a representative from Costa Rican Trails will take you on private transfer to the Arenal area.

One of the most impressive volcanoes of the world, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is what you will find in this area.

In the afternoon - Shared Hike to Arenal Volcano & Ecotermales Hot Springs

The Arenal Volcano was active since 1968 and reduces its activity since November 2009. It continues ejecting gases and fumaroles. A short hike in one of the trails close to the volcano area will give us the chance to enjoy some forest and the activity around it.

At the Ecotermales hot springs, you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak. Includes: Transportation, naturalist guide, entrance fee to hot springs & dinner

Day 4 : Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge (B-L)

A fascinating boat trip through a tropical wilderness, located in the North Atlantic lowland tropical forest. Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge is considered to be one of the richest sites for birdwatchers in this continent. This shared /group tour includes: Transportation, entrance fee, lunch & bilingual guide

Day 5 : Arenal – Monteverde (B)

Early in the morning, you will experience a private lake crossing transfer towards the Monteverde area.
Monteverde was founded about 40 years ago by a small group of conservation-minded Quakers who were looking for a peaceful place to live. The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is one of the most outstanding wild life sanctuaries in the tropics. This high elevation rain forest offers miles of trails with excellent opportunities for bird watching. The resplendent Quetzal is often sighted up here (mostly January to July). It is for this reason that more visitors are attracted to this private reserve than to any other in Costa Rica.

In the afternoon, you will be picked up at the hotel to start your Sky Walk Tour. Sky Walk is a system of trails and suspension bridges built within the Monteverde Cloud Forest that offers visitors the opportunity to observe and appreciate tropical forests from different vantage points. Day 6 : Horseback Ride (B)

Enjoy a wonderful horseback ride tour through different sceneries of Santa Elena area. You’ll pass through some secondary forest as well as open fields. Enjoy the beautiful mountain views, as well as the fresh clean mountain air! Duration: 2 hours / Includes: Transportation, horses & guide (shared/group tour)

Day 7 : Monteverde – Manuel Antonio (B)

After breakfast, a private transfer will be provided to the world famous Manuel Antonio.

Considered to be Costa Rica’s most beautiful, Manuel Antonio Park has enchanting white-sand beaches ideal for swimming, and tropical rainforest forest alive with wildlife. Watch for the monkeys and iguanas who share the park with you. Most hotels are small and intimate, set high on a hill overlooking the rain forest, endless beaches and the national park. Day 8 : Catamaran Coastal Adventure Tour (B - Light lunch)

Sail aboard the Tom Cat or the Spanish Dancer. Come aboard and see the many dolphins, whales, sea turtles, and birds of the Manuel Antonio Marine Preserve.

The tour includes snorkeling equipment and a tour of the offshore islands . We also stop for a leisurely swim at one of the white sand beaches and dive on the underwater reefs of the Manuel Antonio Marine Preserve. Enjoy a feast of fresh fruits, grilled fish brochettes, pasta salad, drinks and the finest hospitality. We offer your choice of a morning sail into the Manuel Antonio Marine Preserve or a sunset sail.

Includes: Transportation, bilingual guide, snorkeling equipment & light lunch. Duration: Half day (From Dec to Apr there is the option to take an afternoon tour instead, which includes dinner instead of lunch)
