The Lodge, which is situated next to the Sarapiquí River and is surrounded by lush gardens, offers three sectors with accommodation so you may choose which one best satisfies your needs according to the purpose of your visit. La Tirimbina features also some facilities for all guests including: Parking and 24-hour surveillance,
Wireless Internet, Computers with free internet access at reception
Conference room, restaurant with prior reservations (breakfast is included for guests of the Lodge), library, open to the public and Souvenir shop.

The restaurant is a spacious, roofed area, with a natural atmosphere where visitors may relax, watch TV, eat or simply have a cup of coffee. This is a good spot to watch birds whilst trying traditional Costa Rican food. The chef offers a buffet style restaurant service to visitors who make prior reservations at the TRC offices (phone or fax). The restaurant has ceiling fans, bathrooms and an area with drinks (cold water, coffee and tea).

La Tirimbina offers 13 rooms with A/C, private bathroom, hot water, Wi-Fi, telephone, radio alarm clock and a small, private terrace with rocking chairs and view of our gardens. Here you may observe a variety of birds, amongst which is the elusive and beautiful Black-crested Coquette hummingbird.

Access

From San José, take route 32 to Limon and cross the Braulio Carrillo National Park (approximately 1 hour). Turn left at the Rio Frio intersection. Continue on this road for another 30km (18.6mi) until you reach the Puerto Viejo/La Virgen intersection. Turn left again and continue for 17km (10.5mi) until you see the Tirimbina sign on the right hand side of the road. The parking area will be on your left. In total this trip takes about 2 hours. If you are traveling by bus from San Jose: Take a taxi from the airport ($20) or the center of San Jose ($5), to the "Gran Terminal del Caribe" bus station, which is located in the northern part of San Jose. At the bus station, buy a ticket to PUERTO VIEJO DE SARAPIQUI (not to be confused with Puerto Viejo de Limon). This trip takes about 3 hours. From here you will need to take another bus or taxi ($10) to reach La Virgen. This is a trip of 15km (10.5mi). You will see the sign for Tirimbina on the right hand side of the road and the parking area and offices are on the left. Instead of a taxi, you can also take another bus to La Virgen de Sarapiquí, which leaves Puerto Viejo every hour. There is a bus stop right in front of the Tirimbina parking area.
